About
My name is Jacy Ruth Vernon, and I am a ceramic and multimedia artist practicing in San Francisco. I currently attend California College of the Arts as a Ceramic Major with an Ecological Practices Minor. I grew up between Hanford and Moorpark, California, both of which are large influences on my art.
My practice prioritizes craft with clay as the foundation, supported by my skills in wood, metal, and textiles. I choose clay as my main medium to explore myself and my family stories because it reflects the emotions of the person using it, making it an ideal medium to tell the stories of imperfect people. Clay can get tired and slouch, it can resist change, and it can hold your breath. It remembers what you have done to it as it documents its journey and yours.
